Meghalaya Cricket’s Young Women Gear Up for Domestic Season
Shillong: In a significant step towards bolstering its presence in domestic cricket, the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has unveiled a 25-strong shortlist for its Under-19 women’s team. This squad, meticulously chosen by the Junior Women’s Selection Committee, is set to represent the state in the upcoming 2025-26 BCCI domestic season.
The selectors, after a rigorous process, compiled the list based on the players’ standout performances in recent selection trials. Their achievements in the previous 2024-25 and 2023-24 seasons of BCCI tournaments were also a key consideration, ensuring a blend of fresh talent and seasoned performers. This group of promising cricketers is now poised for the next stage of their journey. A second round of selection matches is scheduled to take place from September 15-19 at the Nongkhrah Cricket Ground in Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi district. These matches will be crucial in the final team selection, which will be followed by a focused preparatory camp.
The team’s calendar is packed, with the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy kicking off on October 26, followed by the U-19 Women’s One Day Trophy starting on December 13. The shortlisted players are Monica Singh, Cheanchi Kambesa Sangma, Chigesanora Marak, Jayshree Singh, Marme M Sangma, Adalyne F Lyngkhoi, Namesha A Marak, Beneros D Shira, Adelakmen Lawai, Joanna Pyngrope, Banchila Marak, Yoolang Suting, Eliza Lyngdoh, Dawanshisha Warlarpih, Rosabel Lyngkhoi, Isha Ray, Jennifer Fancon, Ronjoli Basumatary, Rafinia Ryntathiang, Steffinie Sohshang, Fennysha Nongrum, Shreya Marak, Julitha Marak, Dejianna M Sangma, and Mendy Adrena Mawlong.
