Increase COVID-19 hospitals, oxygenated beds and other relevant infrastructure: Harsh Vardhan to States-UTs

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has exhorted States witnessing a massive surge in COVID-19 cases to plan in advance and increase COVID-19 hospitals, oxygenated beds, and other relevant infrastructure to combat the deadly virus.

Taking note of the active surge in cases witnessed since last February in which most states have now crossed their highest tally, Dr. Harsh Vardhan today chaired a high-level review meeting with the Health Ministers of 11 States, UTs to review measures taken by them for prevention, containment, and management of recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

The Health Minister also spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and reassured him of an adequate and uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen and all possible support.

Additional 1,121 ventilators are also being rushed to them given the surge in cases, he added.
