Congress MLA Kurmi quits, set to join Saffron Brigade
Guwahati: Four time Legislator, Rupjyoti Kurmi on Friday resigned from the Assam Legislature Assembly and is now gearing up to join “The Saffron Brigade”.
Kurmi who has been one of the most active members in the Congress is prepared to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday. Prior to his resignation the Assam Congress Leadership expelled him from the primary membership of the party.
Kurmi who has been an MLA from the Mariani constituency alleged the party leadership of neglecting the voice of young leaders.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi Kurmi said that “Rahul Gandhi is unable to handle the Congress from the top.”
He also stated, “The Congress is not paying attention to its young leaders and so the situation of the party is worsening in all the states.”
Kurmi had also claimed that the Congress had a good chance to come into power during the 2021 elections, but since they formed an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front, the party lost the chance to form the government in Assam.
Kurmi said that he had always opposed the alliance with the AIUDF.
Along with Kurmi, another leader from the Congress background, Jury Sharma Bordoloi has also quit the party on Friday. She is too expected to join the BJP along with Kurmi.
