*Intensify drive against liquor from Arunachal: Excise Minister
Guwahati: Reviewing the status of the Excise department, Minister Suklabaidya asked the officials to intensify the drive against liquor from Arunachal Pradesh and Sulai. The officials informed the Minister that 9,000 cartons containing 86,000 litres from Arunachal Pradesh and 12,000 litres of liquor bottles with fake labels have been seized. 57,000 litres of sulai have been seized and destroyed in the district.
As the liquor from Arunachal Pradesh mostly come through Bogibeel bridge, the Minister asked the officials to set up a camp 24×7 manned by inspectors and assistant inspectors to check on the vehicles carrying liquor from the neighboring state.
Suklabaidya also reviewed PMMSY, CMSGUY, Ghare Ghare Maach Ghare Ghare Pukhuri schemes of Fisheries department. Under Ghare Ghare Maach Ghare Ghare Pukhuri scheme, 240 ponds have been constructed. The Minister asked the officials to file FIR against those who have availed loans but failed to utilize amount for years together.
He directed the department to cancel the contract for the inordinate delay in construction of a fish feed mill amounting to Rs 2 crore.
