*Sangma-Sarma to discuss border dispute “unofficially”
Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be meeting on Saturday evening and it has been claimed that through this meeting date would be fixed for the border talks between the two states.
The border talks will be held as there are several instances of inter-district border disputes between Assam and Meghalaya.
As per reports Conrad Sangma has claimed that the meeting with CM Sarma will be an unofficial meeting. He had also stated that both the CMs have been having unofficial meetings related to the disputed issue earlier as well.
Sangma added that through this meeting, they will both decide a date to hold an official meeting or talks on the issue. He also claimed that in order to solve the dispute, the involvement of various persons and organizations will be needed.
It may be mentioned that Assam and Meghalaya have been facing issues related to border disputes for several years now and no concrete solutions related to this have been found yet.
