Guwahati: An occult practitioner was arrested in Assam’s Charaideo district on suspicion of a possible human sacrifice after a body of a five-year-old girl was recovered on Wednesday.
A senior police officer informed that the girl was kidnapped from her house in a tea garden by unidentified persons on Monday night. Her elder sister had filed a missing complaint on Tuesday and based on the complaint and investigation was initiated.
As per reports, the body was recovered from the banks of the Singloo river along with a red cloth with ashes and other materials used in tantric rituals. This indicated a possible case of a human sacrifice.
Police officials informed that an occult practitioner (Tantric) was arrested based on the primary investigation. A search operation was also launched to nab the other suspects related to the case.
The police have interrogated the girl’s parents and 10 others for digging out more information related to the case. Her father was also detained for further questioning.
