Guwahati: A father allegedly tried to rape his own daughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur on Monday.
According to the police, the accused tried to rape her while she was sleeping at home. As per the police, the accused father was under the influence of alcohol when he tried to molest the girl.
The father during the entire incident had also threatened the girl to keep quiet.
However, while the father allegedly attempted the crime, the girl had screamed and her mother heard her voice. The mother rushed to the room of the girl and found out the father trying to rape her. She then immediately interrupted and called the police.
The police reaching the spot arrested the father immediately and questioning the girl about the incident, she claimed that this was not the first time. But, there had been multiple instances earlier where the father had molested her.
The police told the media that the father had confessed the crime and further investigation into the entire matter has begun.
It may be mentioned that the girl was newly married and had come to visit her family for a few days recently.
