Guwahati Police finds Cocaine instead of Cake at B’Day Party
Guwahati: The Guwahati Police on Saturday stated that at least 17 persons were arrested with at least four grams of suspected cocaine along with different kinds of weed (Ganja) Marijuana on the intervening night of Friday while raiding an apartment building in Guwahati’s Kharguli area.
The police informed that the raid was conducted in an apartment in the Riviera Kharguli building. The apartment located on the third floor of the building as per the police belongs to a businessman named Vikash Jain. The police informed that the police raided the apartment based on inputs about a rave party. The party was organized to celebrate the birthday of a person identified as Amit Baruah and apart from alcohol, the party had contraband drugs and ganja.
Police said that following the raid, they succeeded in arresting at least 17 persons while a few managed to escape. Following the raids and arrests, a case on each of the participants was filed.
The persons arrested have been identified as Vikash Jain, Nasif Ahmed, Sumit Kumar Beria, Chaiyan Saikia, Amit Pegu, Amit Baruah, Ashok Barman, Hirendra Sinha, Ridip Baruah, Sidhartha Borthakur, Md Fahadfari Ali, and
Rakesh Borgohain. Along with them, five women were also arrested.
The seized materials include 4 grams of suspected cocaine which according to police is one of the very first times in Assam since the latest drive against the illegal drug trade in the state was launched.
