Guwahati: At least 15 children were rescued from a tea garden in Assam’s Charaideo district by a team of district administration and child protection unit on Saturday.
As per information available, the children were engaged as child laborers in the tea garden of the district. They were rescued by a joint team of the district administration and child protection unit based on specific inputs.
After their rescue, all the children were sent for a primary medical checkup and then were forwarded to a shelter home.
The children will be lodged at the shelter home till their parents arrive or their identities are ascertained by the team. As of now (till the filing of this report), they are under medical observation and all other procedures are being undertaken.
A case has also been registered in connection with the entire issue.
