Traffickers smuggle Heroin stacked inside internal parts of vehicle
Guwahati: Drug menace has been one of the most critical issues in Assam as well as the entire northeastern region with drug traffickers and dealers finding new ways to transport the contrabands across the region.
Similarly, traffickers and dealers in the region are using new methods for transportation and some are now hiding drugs into different parts of the vehicles that they use for transportation of such material.
A team of Assam Police on Saturday night tracked down an SUV in the Sonapur area of Guwahati. The vehicle was being used by suspected drug traffickers who had allegedly attempted to smuggle in at least 1.12 kilograms of suspected heroin. After the vehicle was checked, the police team found out that the accused persons using the vehicle had hidden drugs in various parts of the vehicle.
Stuffed into 94 packets of 12 grams each, the accused had stacked the drug in the engine bay, seats and tail lamps, etc.
The police team later said that six persons related to the case were arrested in connection with the case so far. The team also stated that further investigation into the case is still on.
