6.47 Lakh people affected by Assam Floods

Guwahati: Just like every year, Assam is battling the floods even this year with at least 6,47,606 people being affected by the waves.

Among the affected districts in Assam, Nalbari has seen the highest number of populations being affected by the flood with 110731 people being infected.

Apart from this, the total number of districts affected stands at 22. The affected districts are Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, and Tinsukia. If divided into revenue circles, the affected stands at 57.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) further stated that in order to provide relief to the affected population, 85 relief centers and camps were set up. A total of 3584 inmates are currently lodged in relief centers across the state.

Apart from humans, the total number of animals affected by the flood stands at 4,45,210.
