Assam: NMC approves new Medical College

Guwahati: National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved a Medical College with 100 MBBS seats for Lakhimpur in Assam.

Sharing the news on Twitter Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “In a major milestone for Assam, I’m glad to share that @NMC_IND has approved a new Medical College for Lakhimpur with 100 seats for MBBS. A matter of great personal pride as I see this 8th College, I dreamt of, taking shape. Now, we’ve 1100 #MBBS seats for our children.”

It may be mentioned that the National Medical Commission (NMC) visited Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) in August this year and found some deficiencies like the number of faculties, size of casualty ward, and incomplete buildings.

And for that reason, admission to MBBS was also denied for the academic session of 2021-22 by the NMC.
