Assam Rifles Jawans Among Four Arrested in Dibrugarh
Guwahati: Assam Police has arrested three jawans of the Assam Rifle and one civilian for allegedly possessing huge quantities of suspected drugs in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Ranjit Kumar Singha of 23Assam Rifles, Binay Kumar of 16Assam Rifles, Pezslhoulie Rupreo of Dimapur IGR all in uniform, and civilian Junush Khan.
As per reports, the group was intercepted by Police at Jokai near Dibrugarh while they were traveling from Dimapur to Tinsukia.
The police team stated that they had recovered at least 269 grams of suspected heroin from their possession.
The police further informed that the market value of the contraband substance is worth Rs 1 crore was to be delivered to a dealer in Tinsukia.
Following this, a case (2036/21 u/s 22(c)/27A/29) has been filed against the accused under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigation into the entire case is currently underway.
