Facebook game streaming has seen a 6 times increase in viewership, In just one year
In the last two years, the gaming industry in India has exploded. According to research from Facebook gaming’s Business Today, viewership of Facebook gaming has increased by 530 percent or about 6 times since last year.
With the growing popularity of gaming, Facebook gaming is becoming a platform for not just playing games but also watching others play them. Essentially, Facebook is taking a holistic approach to the game by involving players, broadcasters, watchers, and game producers from all around the world to see a holistic rise in the gaming industry.
According to an ET story, Facebook India director and head of partnerships, Manish Chopra stated, “We’ve been fairly serious about expanding for the previous two years, and our statistics are very plainly obvious.” We haven’t been getting out and talking about it nearly as often as we should. We’ve seen tremendous growth in recent months, far beyond any of the sites that are solely dedicated to gaming.”
According to Facebook, approximately 200 million individuals across the world watch games on the site every month. According to the Business Today article, there is no country-by-country breakdown of viewing, but around 380 million individuals are playing casual games on Facebook, with 234 million gaming sessions reported in India between July and August 2021. As a result, India came in third with the most gameplay sessions, with 20 million users participating in Facebook gaming groups during this period.
Popular games on Facebook streaming include PUBG Mobile, Garena, Freefire, Battlegrounds Mobile India, and Grand Theft Auto. Casual gamers/streamers received 3.8 million stars (virtual prizes, a micro-payment system) within the same time.
