Guwahati: The All-Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has staged a protest across the state against the controversial Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP).
The protest has been intensified, following the recent adverse impact caused by the controversial mega river dam project.
According to reports, the project is initiated by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited at Gerukamukh in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border area.
It may be mentioned that the AASU activists from the various districts of Assam unitedly staged protests demanding the immediate closure of the contentious river dam project which has at present been considered to be an ominous cause for future catastrophe in the downstream area of the Subansiri River.
The AASU leaders said that the protest will be continued in the state until the government will not ensure to protect the life and property of the people living downstream.
