J&K: Soldiers killed in mine blast

Guwahati: At least two Indian armies were killed and three others wounded in a mine blast near the Line of Control of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The two soldiers were identified as Lieutenant Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit Singh and the incident took place in the Kalal area of the Nowshera Sunderbani sector.

According to reports, an army column has been on patrol duty as part of measures to check infiltration of terrorists from across the border for the past three weeks without success against militants suspected to be lurking in the forests of Poonch.

The report further stated that the injured officials were shifted to an army hospital where two of them are said to be in severe condition.

It may be mentioned that this is the region’s longest counter-terror operation in the last 18 years.
