Assam Assembly: Congress MLA asked Atul Bora about Border Development
Guwahati: Congress MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal asked questions about the development works to Minister Atul Bora about the development works on the border areas on the 3rd day of the Assam Winter Assembly Session.
Addressing the assembly, Rashid Mandal asked Minister of Border protection and Development Department, Atul Bora to explain how much length of Assam Bangladesh border is still lying open.
Answering the question, Atul Bora stated, “The length of 4.35 KM of Assam Bangladesh border in Karimganj area is still lying open. The construction of Single Row Fence (SRF) for 4.35 kms gap between BOPs Churakhori to Steamerghat in AOR 07 Bn BSF at Karimganj district is opening due to objection raised by Border Guard Bangladesh on 28th of November 2015.
He added,” The conditional concurrence received from BGB as per all design of SRF on 8th March 2021. However, the objection raised by the construction of the reference pillar has not yet been resolved for which the work is still pending. As reported by BSF Masimpur, Cachar, they have approached the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to resolve the proposed design of SRF.”
It may be mentioned that the 5-day Assam winter Session assembly was started on December 20.
