China denies abduction of Arunachal boy

Guwahati: China has denied any information about the missing boy from Arunachal Pradesh. He was, however, apparently claimed to be kidnapped by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

“I don’t know the circumstances,” said a representative for China’s foreign ministry in Beijing. He did say, though, that the PLA is in charge of China’s borders and that it cracks down on “illegal entry and exit activities.”

In response to reports that the PLA abducted an Arunachal youngster, a spokeswoman said, “The Chinese People’s Liberation Army monitors borders according to law and cracks down on illegal entry and departure operations.”

On the day the Indian Army contacted the PLA of China about the ‘abducted’ Arunachal youngster, the Chinese foreign ministry confirmed it. The PLA has also been asked to help the Indian Army ‘find’ and “return” the Arunachal youth.

“Arunachal Pradesh’s Miram Tarom, a 17-year-old kid, was purportedly captured by the Chinese PLA over the LAC. Indian Army promptly called PLA through a hotline, assistance from PLA has been sought to find and return him as per protocol,” Tezpur Defence PRO said.
