CM Sarma lays foundation stone of zoo tiniali flyover
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing the public today at the foundation laying ceremony of the Zoo Road Tiniali Flyover, announcing a slew of new infrastructure projects to be performed by the government in the coming months.
Amongst which the Zoo Road tiniali 2-lane flyover is worth Rs 78.93 crores. If the 4 bigha land acquisition is completed, the flyover will be turned into a four-lane highway in no time. This was done to alleviate traffic congestion during weekday working hours.
Apart from this many other projects worth many crores have been undertaken:
- Foot over bridges at MG Road, Fancy Bazar; between State Zoo and Shraddhanjali Kanan & Paltan Bazar ASTC has been sanctioned.
- A 3,000-crore flyover will connect Palasbari and Sualkuchi.
- AAU Khanapara Campus, Chinmay Mission Bus Stand, Purbhanchal Oath, Mathura Nagar, Mukesh Hyundai, Pushpanjali Arcade, Samsung Showroom at ABC, Lachit Ghat, Kedar Road, PWD Office, Mahavir Udayan will all have air-conditioned bus stops.
- All buses in Guwahati to be converted to electric busses within the next 4-6 months.
- The government has purchased 200 electric buses and 100 CNG-powered buses.
- Guwahati Traffic System to be made completely automatic by next year under ‘Smart City Initiative’.
- The Geeta Mandir will be renovated at a cost of 15 crores by the GMDA.
- Park for Zoo Road-Chandmari residents to be built at current Flood and Irrigation office lane by next year.
- A botanic garden will be built on the grounds of the Fancy Bazar jail.
- A new park will be built on Khadi Board land and will open in August 2022.
