Shillong Blast: 4 held, investigation underway

Guwahati: Meghalaya police nabbed all of the accused in the IED incident at Police Bazar on Wednesday.

According to sources, four people were arrested in connection with the crime, all of whom were supporters or sympathizers of the banned militant group Hyniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

Earlier, the HNLC, a banned terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the IED blast at Police Bazar on Monday evening, claiming that the blast occurred near Delhi Mistan as a result of shops’ failure to pay taxes to the group.

Following the explosion, Meghalaya police detained a youngster who claimed to be the HNLC’s local commander. The person who was apprehended led the cops on a chase.

Sharing the news on Twitter Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said, “All individuals involved in the recent IED blast at Khyndailad have been arrested and further investigation is being carried out by the Police.”
