IGI Airport: Man held with gun and 2 empty magazines
Guwahati: A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the Customs officials with a pistol and two empty magazines at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
According to a senior official, personnel of Air Customs Preventive IGI Airport apprehended one traveller who have arrived from Dubai to Delhi on February 1 based on suspicious movement.
The official said that he originally started his journey from Jeddah to Dubai and then took another flight for New Delhi.
The custom officials claimed that two empty magazines were also recovered from his bag.
According to the officer, the weapon and empty magazines were seized under section 110 of the Customs Act, as well as the Arms Act’s requirements.
The passenger was detained under the requirements of section 104 of the Customs Act, as well as the provisions of the Arms Act.
However, the authority did not reveal the identity of the man. He was transferred to a local government hospital and forced to undergo a medical examination. He was escorted to the appropriate court after receiving his Covid-19 report, which was negative.
Furthermore, he was brought before the court by a Customs officials who submitted a petition requesting that he be sent to judicial custody because he was not required for further interrogation. After hearing their case, the court remanded him in judicial custody. He was later imprisoned in the Tihar Jail.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
