AASU: Alternate Questions for Students in HS Exam
Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) General Secretary Sankar Jyoti Baruah said that the question paper for the Higher Secondary Examination had been set with a 100 percent curriculum this year on Thursday.
This was notified by the AASU GS after a meeting held with Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
Addressing the media, AASU GS following the meeting said that although the question paper has been established with 100 percent syllabus, students need not fear because there will be alternate questions for them.
“The majority of students have requested that the syllabus be reduced because lessons have been disrupted by the pandemic. “The Council has established the question papers with 100% curriculum, but there will be alternate questions, i.e., if the question paper contains 10 questions, there will be another 10 questions, and students can choose either one for the response,” Baruah added.
He further stated that the students’ organisation has also requested the council to consider the students’ futures, for which the council has expressed its support. He also said that they want the examination to be performed in any way possible for the students’ future.
During the meeting, the students’ body also demanded that the examination be conducted according to COVID-19 guidelines, and that special arrangements be made for COVID-19 positive students, if any are found, so that they can take the exam.
“We also encouraged the council to increase the number of examination centres, and the council responded by saying they would consider it,” Baruah said.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the decline in the number of students who are expected to take the exam, estimating that roughly 35,000 students will be absent.
