Guwahati: A 25-year-old has drowned to death in a river while taking bath in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on Monday.
The incident took place at around 2pm in the Chitukona Damas of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Senja D Shira.
According to reports, the youth had gone to the neighbouring Chichra/Manda River to have a bath.
Shira was washed away and drowned in the river while he was bathing.
Police discovered his body when it washed up on the shore.
Meanwhile, North Garo Hills district police arrived on the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
