GMC Elections: MP Queen Oja While Casting Vote Faces Questions of Public

Guwahati: BJP MP Queen Oja voted in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections at Lachit Nagar polling station. While voting, the MP was confronted with questions from the public.

The people questioned her about the garbage system, drainage systems, and other areas that had been filthy for days. Because she was responsible to the public, she promptly contacted GMC officials and asked them to clean the locality’s waste and drains.

Following her phone call, GMC workers swiftly cleaned the neighborhood’s roadways on voting day.

The MP also urged residents to maintain the roadways and surrounding areas clean.

Meanwhile, voting began on Friday in 57 of the 60 municipal wards.

With a total of 7, 96,829 people ready to select who comes to power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are the primary political parties in play.

Candidates promised to address concerns such as clean drinking water, water logging in the streets, and good roadways, among other things, in order to lure voters.

Notably, the BJP has already won three wards without opposition, implying that the other 57 wards would be polled. It had allocated seven seats to its partner, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).

Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in the GMC polls, counting for which will take place on April 24.
