Cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ Weakens into Deep Depression
Guwahati: Cyclone ‘Asani’ deteriorated into a depression after making landfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday night.
The deep depression stayed almost stable for the last six hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and weakened into a depression over the same region.
IMD has also recommended that all fishing operations in the west-central and northwest Bays of Bengal be suspended for the next 12 hours. On Thursday, fishermen are warned not to enter into the west-central Bay of Bengal, which runs along and off the beaches of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, or the northwest Bay of Bengal.
During the next 12 hours, wind rates of 45-55 kmph with gusts to 65 kmph will prevail near the system centre and the adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal.
