Guwahati: An angry mob set fire to a vehicle in the Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh, killing the driver, according to an official on Saturday.
The multi-utility vehicle had previously driven over a minor girl, prompting an enraged mob to set it on fire and throw the driver into the flames, killing him.
According to PTI, the officiating superintendent of police (SP) Sakharam Sengar said that a pick-up vehicle ran over a six-year-old girl late Friday night at the Barjhar crossing, around 38 kilometres from the district headquarters, and that the individuals then set fire to the vehicle.
“A mob apprehended driver Magan Singh (43), thrashed him, lit fire to the vehicle, and threw him into the flames,” Sengar claimed. The driver had significant burn wounds and was transported to Dahod, Gujarat, for specialist medical treatment, but he died the next day.”
Meanwhile, an unidentified person has been charged in connection with a video of the incident that went popular on social media. He stated that police are making every effort to apprehend those responsible.
