Two policemen Washed Away by Flood Waters in Assam’s Nagaon
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, two police officials from Kampur Police Station in Assam’s Nagaon district have been washed away by heavy currents caused by rising flood levels.
The officials have been identified as Samujal Kakati (officer-in-charge) and UB Constable Rajiv Bordoloi.
The incident took place when the OC and his team were on their way to Pasonijhor for an operation to apprehend a criminal in connection with a case on Sunday night.
According to reports, the policeman was washed away by the high current of flood waters while carrying out the procedures. Meanwhile, the OC swam into the water to rescue Constable’s life. The rapid rush of water caused by rising water levels in the Kopili and Nixari Rivers, however, took him away as well.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the duo have been recovered by the State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF) following a 24-hour search that began on Sunday night.
According to a report released on Sunday by the Flood Reporting and Information Management System (FRIMS), the floods have devastated 5,137 villages in 127 revenue circles across 33 Assam districts.
In addition, nine people died as a result of the terrible weather. Six males and three children were slain in the last 24 hours, according to the FRIMS report.
