Guwahati: With the drug menace continuing in the state, Guwahati Police in a big development seized a huge quantity of cannabis (ganja) and arrested one person in connection from the city early on Thursday morning.
The arrested smuggler has been identified as Muqtadul Amin, a resident of Mankachar in Assam.
Based on reliable information, a ‘Bolero car’ bearing registration number JH 05 BR 2141 was intercepted at the Garchuk area.
On checking the vehicle, 30 kg of ganja has been recovered.
According to reports, the seized ganja has been recovered from three chambers underneath the vehicle.
Moreover, the drugs were illegally transported from Agartala via Guwahati to Bihar.
Meanwhile, police are currently interrogating Muqtadul Amin.
