Guwahati: Guwahati Police arrested a middle-aged man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a woman in Punjabari area of the city on Thursday night.
According to reports, the accused invited the victim to a guest house for dinner before attempting to rape her while holding a gun to her head.
The incident was reported from Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Road.
Reportedly, the accused was taken into custody after the victim woman reported the incident to the Dispur police station.
Six more people were also arrested in connection to the incident. The pistol used for the crime was also recovered
Further investigation is underway.
