Germany: PM Modi Arrives in Munich to attend G7 Summit

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Munich on Sunday in order to attend the G7 summit in Germany.

PM Modi will meet with the G7 and partner nations on topics ranging from the environment, energy, and counterterrorism.

Taking to Twitter, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Arindam Bagchi tweeted, “At the invitation of @Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz, PM @narendramodi arrives in Germany for the G7 Summit. Besides participating in @G7 discussions on climate, energy, food security, health, gender equality and more, PM will also hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi was given a warm greeting by the Indian diaspora at the hotel in Munich where he will be staying while on his trip. People from the Indian diaspora shouted and waved their flags as “Bharat Mata ki Jai” slogans echoed around the hotel grounds.

PM Modi will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the G7 Summit in Munich and return to India on June 28 to express his condolences for the loss of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former leader of the UAE and Abu Dhabi. He will also give Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan his congratulations on being the new President of the United Arab Emirates.

Since Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was elected as the new President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, this will be PM Modi’s first encounter with him.

The invitation to the G7 Summit continues India and Germany’s history of a solid and close relationship and frequent high-level political meetings.
