Ripun Bora: Assam TMC open to local alliances with parties aggressively fighting BJP
Guwahati: The president of Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) Assam unit, Ripun Bora on Saturday said that the party is open to coalitions with any other parties at the local level in order to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
However, Bora stated that the TMC would not join forces with the All-India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), which is led by Badruddin Ajmal.
The leader of the Assam TMC referred to the AIUDF as the state’s BJP B-team.
“Under no circumstances will there be an affiliation with the AIUDF. It is the BJP’s B-team, Bora was quoted as saying by PTI.
He added, “TMC wants to form forces with parties who are fiercely opposing BJP.”
Bora, who was speaking forcefully went on to elaborate on his position, stressing that the TMC would not form an alliance with any group that had a soft spot for the BJP.
He then took an aim at the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma for the political chaos that had spread from Maharashtra to Guwahati in Assam.
Bora said, “Our chief minister is proving to be a specialist in horse trafficking, encounters, and inciting enmity. It portends poorly for our state.”
