According to reports, they just have a few meetings and no other significant tasks to complete in Guwahati. To pass their time, they are playing various indoor games including chess and ludo to keep themselves engaged.
The renegade MLAs, led by Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde are reportedly prohibited from leaving the hotel. The MLAs initially reserved hotel rooms for about a week.
Assam BJP MLAs, leaders and ministers are occasionally visiting the hotel, and briefly talking with the Maharashtra lawmakers.
The security of the MLAs is occasionally and thoroughly monitored by Assam police commandos under the direction of high officials.
New reservations for regular visitors were declined by the hotel’s management, with the exception of those made by airline passengers under long-term agreements.
Leaders of the Shiv Sena from Manipur led by state president M. Tombi Singh, met Eknath Shinde at the hotel on Monday. However, they were not allowed to meet.
Earlier, in the best interest of the state, the main opposition Congress in Assam requested that the rebel Maharashtra legislators leave the state as soon as possible.
Although there are no official directives on many of the “privileges,” dependable government sources stated, the Shinde camp has reserved 70 of the 196 rooms in the five-star hotel where they have been given VVIP treatment.
The hotel is heavily guarded and covered by multiple layers of security, with armed guards, Assam police commandos, and central paramilitary forces on duty. A 24×7 medical unit comprising of doctors, male and female nurses, paramedics, and state-of-the-art ambulances from the Guwahati Medical College has also been kept ready at the hotel. Reliable sources claim that with the assistance of the Assam government’s Electronics and IT corporation, a temporary communication hub has been set up within the hotel with laptops, powerful modems, and high-speed broadband internet.
