Assam: CM Sarma Takes Stock of Flood Situation in Bajali
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited Kuwara and Medhikuchi areas under Bajali district and examine the damage brought on by the floods brought on by the Kaldia River’s overflowing water.
Sarma also interacted with the affected people and assured them of all possible assistance.
Medhikuchi has experienced severe destruction following the bursting of the Pahumara embankment. About 35 families were left without a place to live after the flood damage.
CM Sarma visited flood relief camps at No 425 Medhikuchi Model Primary School and Primary Health Camp at Bhabanipur.
He said that Rs 9 crores has been approved for building a suitable road and fortifying the Pahumara River’s embankment. He also assured of providing assistance to reconstruct damaged roads.
The chief minister also observed the flooding conditions in Charalpara Nayapara in Bhabanipur and noted the difficulties that the locals were experiencing.
Sarma was accompanied by Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development Ranjit Kumar Dass.
