7 arrested for stealing high tension aluminium wires in Assam
Guwahati: At least seven persons has been arrested for being allegedly involved in stealing 10 quintals of aluminium high-tension wire in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Thursday.
According to reports, the high-tension wires were recovered beneath a pond in the Majgaon area of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, the Lahowal police earlier on Wednesday arrested seven persons
The arrestees have been identified as Ajay Teli, Ajay Majhi, Jitul Hazarika, Ritu Tasa, Ashramat Ali, Jitu Hazarika and Dharam Rabidas.
Police officials informed that the market value of the wires is suspected to be around Rs 2 to 3 crores.
While addressing to media, the officer-in-charge, Lahowal police station, Manoranjan Gogoi said, “Based on their confession, we began a search operation in the pond and collected anywhere between 10 and 12 quintals of aluminium high-tension wire. The cables’ market worth is estimated to be between Rs. 2 and 3 crores.
Meanwhile, all the seven accused have been sent to judicial custody.
