Assam Man arrested under UAPA for ‘supporting’ Udaipur tailor’s killing

Guwahati: A man from Assam was arrested in the Hailakandi district for allegedly supporting in the gruesome murder of the tailor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.

The arrestee identified as Samsul Laskar, a resident of Katlicherra area.

According to reports, Laskar was arrested after endorsing the murder in a comment on a social media website.

Laskar was detained on Thursday and a case was lodged against him under many IPC sections and the strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Milan Das in Hailakandi filed a police complaint.

In his complaint, Das charged Laskar of posting the remark on a blog post by one Abu Choudhury who called for the execution of those responsible for the tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s death.

It needs to be mentioned that on June 28, two men identified as Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad allegedly hacked Kanhaiya Lal to death in his store in Udaipur with a cleaver while posting videos online to claim they were retaliating for an insult to Islam.

They were detained and the case was transferred to the National Investigation Agency.
