NDA Presidential Candidate Draupadi Murmu Visits Shillong

Guwahati: Draupadi Murmu, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) arrived at Meghalaya capital Shillong on Wednesday afternoon.

Murmu was received by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma, assembly speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and other BJP leaders of the state at the Shillong airport. Murmu travelled to Shillong to solicit assistance for the July 18 presidential elections.

Taking to twitter, Conrad Sangma wrote, “Meghalaya extends its warmest welcome to Smti. Draupadi Murmu, Presidential candidate on her maiden visit to our State. As tribals, it is our honour to have Smti. Draupadi with us today.”

Murmu met with lawmakers and MPs from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) on Wednesday in Guwahati.

Draupadi Murmu is anticipated to travel to Kolkata on Saturday and Bengaluru on Sunday in order to solicit support for her candidacy from BJP lawmakers and members of parliament.
