Kangaroo court in Assam’s Nagaon burnt one man alive; authorities search for body
Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a group of villagers was suspected to have burnt alive a man following an order of a kangaroo court in Nagaon district of Assam.
The man identified as Ranjit Bordoloi was suspected of been burned alive by a group of locals from the Borlalung area.
The incident came to light on Saturday and police have launched an investigation into the matter already.
Locals claimed that Bordoloi was first burnt alive and then his body was buried at a cremation ground in the area.
Reportedly, Bordoloi was accused of killing a local woman before, police said.
“A few days ago, a woman identified as Sabita Pator died unexpectedly. The case was then heard in a rural kangaroo court, where Bordoloi allegedly admitted killing the woman. After that, an enraged mob allegedly set him on fire to death. Search is on to recover the body which is claimed to have been buried, said police reports.
Reports further added that top administrators and police officers are currently interrogating the residents of Borlalung village.
