Amid Swine Fever Outbreak Banned on Movement of Pigs in Assam’s Tinsukia

Guwahati: The Tinsukia district administration in Assam has issued a blanket prohibition on the movement of live pigs, pork, and pork-related items within a 10-kilometer radius of the swine disease epicentre.

The areas of Doom Dooma revenue circle Sitolpur, Gauripur, and Philobari are the epicentres of the virus in the district.

This decision was made in light of the district-wide spread of swine disease.

Moreover, movement of live pigs and pork products between states, within districts, and across entire districts has been prohibited for 30 days.

Meanwhile, the sale of components used to make pig feed, such as wheat bran, rice bran, and rice polish has also been prohibited to registered dealers of pig feed millers in Tinsukia during this time.

According to the order, the violation of the order will be punishable with imprisonment if such refusal to comply with directions results in loss of lives or any kind of danger.
