Guwahati: The AIUDF party will support for the opposition’s common candidate Yashwant Sinha in the Monday presidential election. The party revealed this information on Sunday while addressing a press conference at Guwahati.
AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam who supports Yashwant Sinha for the UPA, said that the party had designated both him and Majibur Rahman as its representatives in the presidential election.
Addressing the press conference, Islam said, “Sinha is not a Congress candidate, Likewise, we are backing Yashwant Sinha on behalf of the Congress party. We requested each Congress MLA to support Sinha on behalf of the AIUDF party.”
Meanwhile, the AIUDF party has claimed that the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (AIUDF) has not invited them during Yashwant Sinha’s presidential election campaign in Assam.
