Guwahati: In a positive update, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma annouches that Meritorious Girl Higher Secondary (HS) students who secured first Division will receive scooters this year.
Higher Secondary (HS) Meritorious Boy Students who received letter grades will also receive scooters.
“We want to make sure that both boys and girls receive scooters. But in terms of eligibility, we are a tad strict with the lads,” the Chief Minister stated.
The deserving HS students will receive their scooters by the time of Durga Puja this year.
The Education Department will later issue an official notification about the matter.
Moreover, meritorious HSLC students – both boys and girls – who earned star marks or more will receive 16,000 instead of laptops this year by August 6.
