Guwahati: A girl asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for guidance on how to become a chief minister and if Shinde could take her to Guwahati in a widely circulated video of their interaction on social media.
Annada Damre, the girl in the video, inquired about becoming the chief minister by aiding flood victims “as he did” when visiting Shinde in his mansion in Mumbai. “When there was a flood in Assam, you swam over floods to save people,” the girl questioned the Maharashtra chief minister. Can I become chief minister by assisting the flood victims?
Eknath Shinde, humouring her, said, “You can undoubtedly succeed as chief minister. On this, we shall adopt a resolution.”
Annada then asked a guarantee from Mr Shinde that he would take her to Guwahati for Diwali this year. “We’ll definitely go. You want to go to Guwahati’s Kamakhaya Temple, right?” Mr Shinde asked. Annada said yes.
Mr Shinde then turned to his aides in the room and remarked, “The girl is very smart.”
Last month, Eknath Shinde organised an uprising with at least 39 Shiv Sena legislators that resulted in the resignation of former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The group headed by Eknath Shinde landed in Guwahati on June 22.
The BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis and Mr. Shinde took their oaths of office as chief minister and deputy chief minister, respectively, on June 30.
