Assam: One killed in man-elephant conflict in Goalpara
Guwahati: Man-elephant conflict seems to be continuing in the state as on Thursday another man was trampled to death by a herd of elephants Goalpara district of Assam.
The incident was reported near Lakhipur town of the district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The person killed in the elephant attack was identified as Nizamuddin.
According to reports, a herd of wild elephants had wandered into the area in search of food, and after seeing locals panic and flee, the elephants became angry.
It is suspected that the elephants had wandered off in search of sustenance as constant rains and floods have severely impacted their food source.
Later, local police and representatives from the forest service arrived at the spot and recovered the deceased’s body.
