2 More Missing Labourers of Assam Rescued from Arunachal
Guwahati: Two more missing construction labourers from Assam were rescued from the jungles at Huri village in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.
The Deputy Commissioner of the district, Nighee Bengia, said Kholebbuddin Sheikh (27) and Shamidul Sheikh (19) were both rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the local teams in a very critical condition from a jungle between Huri and Tapa village on Sunday.
Reportedly, both the labours were first brought to the camp at Huri and then shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Damin for further treatment.
As the health condition of both the labourers are not stable, they are likely to be shifted to the Naharlagun or Koloriang district hospital.
As per reports, due to the weather condition the search operations by the Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers could not be launched on Monday. The rescue operations will resume tomorrow if the weather changes.
Three labourers who had been rescued earlier were sent from Huri to Koloriang District Hospital for additional care. Kurung Kumey’s DC, SP, and DMO paid a visit to the district hospital and spoke with the three workers who had been admitted.
Since July 5 from the project site in the neighbouring state, up to 19 people have gone missing.
The workers are said to have abandoned the labour camps at the BRO road construction site in Damin Circle on July 5 after being denied permission to travel home for Eid al-Adha, according to a missing report filed by the contractor who had brought them to the state for work on July 13 and dated July 13.
