Bihar CM Nitish Kumar tests positive for Covid-19 a second time

Guwahati: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19. According to the physicians’ recommendations, he is currently in home isolation, his office said on Tuesday.

Nitish Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19 twice so far this year. He had minimal symptoms when he initially tested positive for the virus in January and was kept at home in isolation.

The chief minister has been ill for the past two to three days, according to a statement released by the chief minister’s office (CMO) on Tuesday morning. He got tested for Covid-19 on Monday, in which he tested positive for the virus.

The CMO added that Nitish is currently being isolated at home and that his physicians have urged him to rest. People who have come into touch with the chief minister in the last two to three days have been urged to get tested for COVID.

According to reports, CM Nitish Kumar was unable to attend President Droupadi Murmu’s swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi on Monday due to his deteriorating health. He didn’t participate in any official state government programmes at this location either.

Over the past few weeks, Covid-19 has started resurfacing in Bihar. Bihar reported 1,850 active cases of Covid-19 as of Monday night. The state health agency listed 355 new cases of coronavirus infections.

Every day, the state reports between 300 and 400 new cases of Covid-19 along with 1-2 deaths. As of Monday, 12,280 people had died in Bihar as a result of COVID-19, and the current recovery rate is 98.321 percent.
