Guwahati: The Guwahati police has busted an inter-State four-wheeler theft racket and recovered six vehicles from Assam and Manipur on Tuesday.
The prime accused involved in the racket has been arrested during the operation.
The prime accused has been identified as Bikash Talukdar.
According to reports, Talukdar was arrested from Geetanagar area of Guwahati city.
Reportedly, defendants illegally marketed cars to other states after leasing them from one state.
Police in Guwahati recovered three “Tata Di” pickup vehicles in the Basistha area.
Additionally, two Bolero pickup vehicles and a Tata car were found by the police in Manipur.
Police further reported that two suspects who were allegedly involved in the scam are currently on the run and that efforts are on to nab them.
They have been identified as Horen Kalita and Gaurav Singh.
