Guwahati: The officer in-charge (OC) posted at Kharupetia police station in Darrang district of Assam has been arrested for allegedly raking in money fraudulently on Wednesday.
The corrupted officer has been identified as OC Utpal Bora of Kharupetia PS.
According to reports, the police officer allegedly registered fake complaints against persons in order to demand money from them.
Police officials informed that this had been going on since long.
Bora allegedly did the dirty work while in-charge of Dhula police station in the district.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that the disgraced officer had requested bribes after making false accusations against a doctor and a teacher.
He allegedly demanded a bribe from the two of Rs 5 lakhs, police officials said.
