Assam Guv Jagadish Mukhi Asks Parents To Spend Quality Time with Children
Guwahati: Assam Governor Jagadish Mukhi has advised parents to spend quality time with their children and give them a safe, caring atmosphere at home because strong family bonds and a culture of morality can contribute to the development of a drug-free society.
He also emphasised the part that many organisations play in helping government organisations fight the drug epidemic.
Speaking in Guwahati at a programme for the “60-Day Anti-Drug, Tobacco and Liquor Awareness campaign,” Mukhi said that in light of the growing abuse of illegal drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, “strong family ties, parental guidance, and counselling combined with high moral character can help youth stay away from the scourge of these substances.”
He said, “Parents should give children a caring, secure, and stable family environment.”
Additionally, he stated that social organisations should strive diligently to raise awareness of the “vicious cycle” of drugs and alcohol use as well as the harms they cause to society.
“The drug epidemic is ruining society. Social organisations should unite in order to combat the evil forces and work with the government to create a drug-free society, he continued.
In addition, the governor urged students to work toward a bright future and promised to support efforts to establish a drug-free society.
He asked educators to support young people’s participation in sports, music, and other artistic endeavours.
The awareness campaign, organised by an NGO, was earlier flagged off by the governor from Raj Bhavan, an official release said.
