12 LTT Cadres Lay Down arms in Manipur

Guwahati: As many as 12 militants of the Liberation Tigers of Tribes (LTT) lay down their weapons and joined society in front of Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Wednesday.

The cadres surrendered along with one M-16 Rifle, two AK-56 Rifles, one double barrel gun, one .22 Rifle, two 9mm Pistols (one country made), one Lathode (country made), one CMG (country made), one Chinese hand grenade, 14 live rounds of AK rifle, and a Kenwood radio set.

“Welcomed 12 cadres of Liberation Tigers of Tribals (LTT), including its Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Army Chief at the Homecoming Ceremony held at 1st MR Banquet Hall in Imphal today. They have laid down a huge cache of weapons including hand grenades and wireless hand held set (sic),” Manipur CM tweeted.

He added, “Under the revised scheme for Surrender-cum Rehabilitation of Militants in North Eastern states, 2018 of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, rehabilitation benefits include a one-time financial grant of Rs 4 lakh to each surrenderee, monthly stipend of Rs 6000 & other incentives (sic).”
