Meghalaya police constable among five arrested with heroin
Guwahati: One of the five people detained in connection with an alleged illegal drug transaction attempt was a police constable from Meghalaya.
The five smugglers were apprehended in various locations across the state.
According to reports, heroin worth Rs 1 crore have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.
According to the police, 29-year-old Nisooki War was apprehended in the East Jaintia Hills district with 201 grammes of heroin worth Rs 1 crore that had been trafficked from Assam’s Cachar district.
Additionally, one Meghalaya police constable, identified as Triplepearl Pasi of East Jaintia Hills DEF was detained for engaging in a criminal conspiracy and aiding and abetting War in the commission of the crime.
In another incident, three people in a car in the West Khasi Hills district were found to be in possession of 10 grammes of heroin worth Rs 30,000.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the accused persons.
An investigation is being conducted to find more connections.
