Guwahati: Sanket Mahadev Sargar of India won a silver medal in weightlifting during the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham.
He won with a total weight of 248 kg in the 55 kg weight division.
This is India’s first medal in the tournament.
Sanket began weightlifting in 2013 when he was 13 years old alongside his sister, who was also a weightlifter.
Sargar won the Singapore International and the National Championships before arriving in Birmingham.
